ROBREDO CAPTURES SECOND TITLE IN BASTAD
Dunlop’s Tommy Robredo took out his second title in 3 years at the Catella Swedish Open in Bastad. Beating fellow Dunlop tour player, Tomas Berdych 6-4 6-1, Robredo captured his first ATP title of the season.
A clay court specialist, Robredo performed well all week, beating world no. 5, David Ferrer in his semi-final. In his post match press conference he said, “I believe that in a tournament you don’t win it only in the final, but during the entire week. I played a good match against Jarrko (Nieminen) and yesterday in the semi-final I think I played really well against David (Ferrer)”.
Berdych, who complained of knee soreness during the final said, “I did everything I could to beat Tommy, when you are 100% is already difficult, imagine when you are not. Tommy played well all week and deserved to win the title”.
This is Tommy’s 7th ATP Singles title and has moved to 14th in the world on the ATP rankings.
